Hello, my name is Daniel Sheppard, and I am currently a sophomore in college studying political science. I aspire to attend law school and pursue a career in government and public service.
This blog is to principally serve as an outlet and learning opportunity for myself. It is a means of record that I will, in the distant future, look back on as a way of tracking my progress both as a writer and thinker.
The writing page features medium- to long-form essays written on a variety of topics, including politics, history, and current events. Given that these essays are produced and published for the sole purpose of my own self-education, I will take it upon myself to don an objective and unbiased tone throughout. I will post an essay every Monday at noon.
The notes page is dedicated to shorter, more casual posts. The topics can range from life updates to simply how I'm feeling at a given moment. This page deliberately lacks scheduling and quality control, but I feel as though this adds to its overall charm and authenticity.
The reading page is meant to track my reading progress (obviously), but there is nothing I hate more in the world than writing book reviews. So, if there comes a time where I have not added any books to the list in a few months, just know the prohibitive factor at play is the act of reading, but the laborious act of writing about my reading.
